A little odd.

A lot of good.

Psst. The red one’s alive.
Be nice.

We turn curious ideas into digital things with a pulse. Polished, useful, and a little odd on purpose.

The studio

Who we are, roughly

oddbyte.space

oddbyte is a small studio making software for people who notice things. The easing on a panel. The weight of a click. The empty state nobody else bothered to design. We build things that are useful first, polished always, and a little odd, on purpose.

What we do
Product design, Mac apps, web apps, brand and motion. Usually all at once.
How we work
Small team, short loops, real prototypes. Fewer decks, more builds.
Where we live
On oddbyte.space. Each thing we make gets its own subdomain.

Flyby

Search without leaving
what you’re doing.

Flyby lives in your Mac’s menu bar. Press ⌥/ in any app, even a full-screen one, and a dark glass bar opens at the bottom of the screen. Ask, read the answer in the card that grows out of it, and press Esc to get back to work.

⌥/
Opens from any app. Esc puts it away.
⌘1–⌘4
Answers from Google AI Mode, Gemini, Apple Intelligence on-device, or your browser.
⌥⇧Space
Attaches the window you’re in, and asks about it.
⌘Y
Follow-ups, and your newest 200 chats kept on your Mac.

No Flyby account, no Flyby server, no analytics. Its shortcuts need no keyboard permissions.

Free · MIT licensed · macOS 27 on Apple silicon

A looping demo of Flyby on a Mac. The bar opens over a document, answers when the first iPhone went on sale with its sources and a follow-up about the price, then answers with Gemini and with Apple Intelligence on-device.

02 · YouTube Music, native on macOS

Music for YouTube

Music for YouTube app icon

YouTube Music, made native. SwiftUI and macOS 26’s Liquid Glass, laid out like Apple Music, so it feels like it came with your Mac. It plays through YouTube’s own player, so Premium, your history, radio and recommendations all come along.

Get it on GitHub Free. Updates itself.

Needs macOS 26 on Apple silicon. An independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.

  1. 01

The real player, underneath. Audio runs through YouTube Music’s own web player, hidden. Everything you see is native SwiftUI.

  2. 02

Lyrics, queue, full screen. Synced lyrics, a queue you can reorder, and a full-screen player that takes its colours from the artwork.

  3. 03

Lives in the menu bar too. Control Center-style tiles, a mini player, media keys, and ⌃⌥⌘Space from any app.

  4. 04

Account or guest. Switch with ⇧⌘G. Each keeps its own history and recommendations, and nobody gets signed out.

03Classified???.oddbyte.space

Product 03. The name is classified.

Something odd is in the oven.

We'd tell you more, but then it wouldn't be a surprise. And we are very, very into surprises.

House rules

Five of them. We keep all five.

Less same.
More strange.

  1. Useful first.

If it doesn't earn a spot in your dock, it doesn't ship.

  2. Sweat the last 5%.

Easing curves, empty states, the edge case at 3am. That's where an app actually lives.

  3. Feel native.

A Mac app should feel like a Mac app. A website should load like it respects your time.

  4. Fast is a feature.

Every millisecond is a design decision. We make them on purpose.

  5. Keep one odd thing.

Every product gets one detail it didn't strictly need. It's usually the one people remember.

Work with us

Got an odd project?

Between our own products, we take on a handful of design and development projects a year. Apps, sites, brands, prototypes, and the thing your team keeps calling “too fiddly to build”.

  • Product design
  • Mac + iOS apps
  • Web apps + sites
  • Brand + motion
  • Prototypes that feel real

Tell us what it is, who it's for, and what's making it hard. That's plenty to start.
